Commemorative gathering and funeral for Beriz Belkić on Friday

(Patria) - The funeral for Beriz Belkić, former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who passed away yesterday at the age of 77, will be held on Friday, August 18, at 5 PM at the Lav City Cemetery in Sarajevo.

Organized by the Presidency of BiH and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, a commemorative session will be held tomorrow, August 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Grand Hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH building.

Beriz Belkić was born in Sarajevo on September 8, 1946. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in 1989, and from 1996 he was a member and part of the top leadership of the Party of BiH.

As a candidate of this party, he was also appointed a member of the Presidency of BiH. He held this position from the end of March 2001 until the General Elections in October 2002.

He also held a number of other positions, including member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Minister for Refugees and Social Policy of Sarajevo Canton, and others.

After his term in the PA BiH in 2006, he retired from politics.

He lived in Sarajevo with his wife Azra, with whom he had a son, Admir.
