Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović sent a congratulatory message today on the occasion of Ramadan Bayram. The Patria News Agency is publishing the full text of the reisu-l-ulema's Bayram greeting.

- Today after the evening prayer we will witness the appearance of the crescent moon, which marks the end of the Ramadan fast. We joyfully welcome Ramadan Bayram, the happiest day in Muslim tradition. Its blessed days come to us after we have spent a month of days and nights in humble submission and complete devotion to God, striving through our acts of worship: prayer, fasting, recitation of the Qur'an, zakat and sadaqat al-fitr, to attain Allah's mercy and forgiveness.

In these blessed days, I wish to call on all responsible people to show restraint, wisdom, reasonable dialogue and openness, and on those responsible in the state to show particular sensitivity in addressing the existential issues and problems of our people. Serious reforms in society, wise political decisions and patient dedication to solving problems are needed.

Brothers and sisters,

This Ramadan we also marked the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. On that occasion, the Islamic Community issued a fatwa and a declaration on Srebrenica, in the belief that they will contribute to our lasting memory and dignified attitude towards our martyrs' sites, both in Srebrenica and in other parts of our homeland. Let us always bear in mind that in faith, above all, an honest relationship with God, with oneself and with other people is valued. As always, following the instructions of our faith:

Let us make friendships wherever we can.

Let us stand up for the truth whenever we see that a lie is being forced upon us.

Let us avoid quarrels and disputes about things where there is no benefit to us and where the harm is obvious.

Let us forgive one another, for this strengthens the bond between people and nations.

To all Muslims, men and women, in our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak, in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the diaspora, I wish happy and blessed Bayram days.

Let us spend them as is our tradition: with family, relatives and friends.
