In Stari Grad Municipality, Education for Parents of Children with Developmental Difficulties

An interactive forum „Parent to Parent“ on Wednesday in Stari Grad Municipality launched a cycle of education for parents of children with and without developmental difficulties. The organizer of these educations is the Association „EDUS“ („Education for All“), a non-profit, non-governmental organization that develops and improves education and support for children with and without developmental difficulties. The core of these educations is the presentation of home methods that can increase the effect of a child's development, as well as mutual acquaintance of parents, experts and exchange of experiences, Patria reports.

As interest in these educations is constantly growing, Stari Grad Municipality has supported this project by providing space for holding educations and parent meetings. The educations will be held every other Wednesday in the period until the end of March 2017, with the exception of January, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

At yesterday's interactive meeting, all parents actively participated. The first to speak were mothers Ilzana Bahić and Irma Ćatović, who spoke to those present about the problems and obstacles they face, as well as possible solutions for their children. There was also much discussion about the „Kabas program“ in school institutions, which is a method of working with children with developmental difficulties.

Also, one of the forum participants, who spent many years in America, said that even there the situation is not great, and that parents encounter numerous obstacles in the system that prevent the normal development and education of their children.
