No danger of floods and landslides in Centar Municipality

The Civil Protection Service of Centar Municipality Sarajevo, within its regular activities, is on alert and monitoring the situation on the ground, according to information from the Cantonal Operational Center for Civil Protection regarding precipitation amounts and assessments of potential danger from floods, landslides, and other natural disasters, reports the Patria News Agency.

According to Vahid Bećirević, Assistant Municipal Mayor and Head of the Civil Protection Service of Centar Municipality, there is currently no danger of watercourses overflowing or landslides occurring in the central Sarajevo municipality.

-The current activity of our service is to constantly check the situation on the ground. The area of Centar Municipality, primarily due to its geographical location, is spared from the danger of floods, said Bećirević, emphasizing that Centar Municipality has been investing significant financial resources in preventive activities in both segments for many years when it comes to landslides and floods.

In the last ten years alone, around 12 million marks have been allocated from dedicated funds for landslide remediation. In addition, Centar Municipality invested about half a million KM in the project of arranging and regulating the Koševski potok stream bed from 2009 to 2015.

-The only critical watercourse is the part of Koševski potok from the exit of Pionirska dolina to the Psychiatric Clinic, which is not channelized. We have 80,000 KM available for this purpose, stated Bećirević, it was announced from Centar Municipality.
