In Novi Sad, they burned a banner glorifying Karadžić

(Patria) - The organization "Mlada Vojvodina" today removed and then burned the banner "Radovan Karadžić is a hero", which unknown perpetrators hung on an overpass in Novi Sad this morning. The organization then published photos and a short video of the action of removing and burning the banner on social media.

The Novi Sad portal Autonomija, founded by the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina, writes that a female voice can be heard in the video saying in a commanding tone: "Take it down", and then two people with scarves over their faces are seen removing the banner from the overpass. They sprayed the banner with an accelerant and then burned it on the grass, reports the Patria agency.

At the end of the video, one of the people who participated in the action is seen, with their mouth and nose covered by a red scarf, wearing sunglasses and a cap, and showing four fingers.

Autonomija reminds that four raised fingers, without the thumb, is a symbol of those who advocate for the broad autonomy of Vojvodina.

On the Instagram profile of Mlada Vojvodina, this short film is tagged with "No pasaran", "Vojvodina nazi free zone", "Death to fascism", "They shall not pass", "Vojvodina for Vojvodinians", "Vojvodina Novi Sad".

The former president of Republika Srpska, an entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Radovan Karadžić, was sentenced by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague to life imprisonment for genocide, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s.
