The French Ministry of Interior reports that 940 cars were set on fire during the New Year's Eve celebration, 12 percent less than the previous year when 1,067 vehicles burned, reports the news agency Patria.
Ministry spokesperson Pierre-Henry Brandet told BFM-TV that cars burned across the country, especially in the east and Paris suburbs, and most of all in the Seine-Saint-Denis region where fiery protests were recorded in 2005.
