On New Year's Eve, 21-year-old stole a Passat, then veered off the road

Police officers of the Šipovo Police Station received a report that a passenger vehicle, a Passat, was located on a local road in the village of Dragnić, Šipovo municipality, having veered off the roadway, and that there was no one inside the vehicle, reports the Patria news agency.

Acting on the received report, it was determined that the vehicle was privately owned and had been stolen on December 31, 2015, at around 11:30 PM from a parking area on Sime Šolaje Street, Šipovo municipality.

Based on operational field work and gathered information, police officers learned that Đ.V. (born 1994) from Šipovo took advantage of the owner's absence and inattention, using the original key that was in the ignition to start the vehicle with the intent to steal it, but due to inappropriate speed, he veered off the roadway, where he left the vehicle and fled the scene.

Due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of motor vehicle theft, Đ.V. was questioned as a suspect, and after the case is completed and documented, a report will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office in regular procedure, the RS Ministry of Interior announced.
