Conference "European Constitution for Bosnia and Herzegovina" opens in Neum

NEUM, (Patria) - A two-day scientific and professional conference "European Constitution for Bosnia and Herzegovina" opened in Neum, organized by the University of Mostar and the Rectors' Conference of the Republic of Croatia under the high patronage of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS).

President of the HDZ BiH Dragan Čović stated that the conference in Neum will offer some new solutions for BiH in order to accelerate its European path.

"With this third conference, which we are organizing in cooperation with the University of Mostar, we will round off the idea we offered to our friends in BiH in an attempt to find better solutions for a modern, European BiH," said Čović, as reported by N1.
He added that BiH has a clearly defined path "which is clouded by misunderstandings and mutual assurances that BiH belongs only to them." 

"Four members of the former state are now members of the NATO alliance or are on the path to becoming so, four members of the former state are full members of the EU or are on the path to opening and closing chapters in accession negotiations. BiH remains, as one might say, a small-scale replica of the former state, with the same challenges and searches for a way to preserve it. If that rests solely on the shoulders of the smallest people – the Croatian people, and if others do not want to hear what we are saying about the European future, we will hardly succeed," Čović stated.

Newly elected President of the Croatian National Council Mario Pejić accused Čović and the HDZ this morning of calling themselves bearers of European values, „while simultaneously advocating a return to the '90s and a return to the idea of Herceg-Bosna, which is catastrophic, which brought the Croatian people into this position, caused damage to Croats in BiH and Croatia, which was a friend of BiH in various areas.“ 

Pejić said that a European constitution is not based on the ethnic division of BiH territory. 

„If we want a European constitution, then we must follow the European Convention on Human Rights. That statement itself is contradictory,“ said Pejić on the morning program of N1 television.
Those present in Neum were also addressed by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who said that "BiH is very important to Croatia," as reported by NAP.
