On Sunday, voting for 7,748 candidates, of which 518 are mandate holders

General elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014, and the Central Election Commission of BiH has announced the levels of government for which voting will take place, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Thus, citizens of BiH, as well as those abroad, will vote for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the President and Vice Presidents of Republika Srpska, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and the Assemblies of the cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

98 political entities are participating in the elections (50 political parties, 24 coalitions, 24 independent candidates), of which 7,748 candidates (3,276 women and 4,472 men).

 A total of 518 mandate holders are being elected, as follows: Presidency of BiH 3, Parliament of BiH total 42, from FBiH 28 (21 direct and 7 compensatory mandates), from RS 14 (9 direct and 5 compensatory mandates). For the Parliament of FBiH 98 (73 direct and 25 compensatory mandates), President and Vice Presidents of RS 3, National Assembly of RS 83 representatives (63 direct and 20 compensatory mandates). For ten cantons, 289 are elected: USK 30, PK 21, TK 35, ZDK 35, BPK Goražde 25, SBK 30, HNK 30, ZHK 23, KS 35, and Canton 10 25.

VOTER CATEGORIES

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with the Election Law of BiH, there are several categories of voters. Voters in BiH have been registered passively since 2006. By obtaining a CIPS ID card, they are automatically placed on the central voter register. Unfortunately, active voter registration still applies to voters voting from abroad. Voters voting in BiH are divided into two categories: voters voting at regular polling stations and voters voting in absentia (displaced persons within BiH). For the 2014 General Elections, a total of 3,278,908 persons were registered (regular 3,216,177, absent 9,226, in person 11,366, from abroad (14 diplomatic-consular offices) 42,139).

MOBILE TEAMS

Total polling stations 5,401, regular 5,284, absent 107, in person in municipality 1, unconfirmed 4, diplomatic-consular offices 5. A total of 270 mobile teams have been formed.

Polling stations are open on election day from 07:00 to 19:00. By presenting one of the valid identification documents at the polling station, the voter receives the combination of ballot papers that belongs to them by law. Secrecy of voting is ensured at the polling station. Votes of voters voting by mail are counted after verification at the Main Counting Center in Sarajevo.

ELECTION OBSERVERS

142 municipal/city election commissions have accredited about 50,000 observers from political entities (no precise report from the field yet). Other accredited observers include 5,073 from 29 associations, 552 observers from 38 international organizations, and 130 observers from 13 political entities. Total 5,760.
