Sunday is the first day of Kurban Bayram

(Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community in BiH, the first day of Kurban Bayram is Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The central Bayram ceremony of the Islamic Community will be held in the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo, after the morning prayer which will be performed at 4:25 AM.

The Bayram prayer will be performed at 5:41 AM.

The Bayram prayer and the Bayram sermon will be led by Husein-ef. Kavazović, the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A festive program will be performed by renowned reciters of the Quran, ilahijas, and qasidas, and a relevant sermon will be delivered on this occasion by mr. Dževad Pleh, director of the Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa in Sarajevo.

On Saturday, June 15, the Day of Arafat, the recitation of takbiri-tešrik begins after the morning prayer, after the taslim.

The importance of Kurban Bayram or Hadži Bayram is determined by the worship of sacrificing a kurban and sharing the kurban meat with the poor, friends, and neighbors; as well as the worship of Hajj, when several million Muslims stay in Mecca on specific days.

Kurban Bayram lasts for four days.
