Temporary traffic suspension in Sarajevo on Sunday due to "Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine" protest

(Patria) - Due to the protest titled "Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine", organized by an informal group of citizens, there will be a temporary traffic suspension in Sarajevo on Sunday, October 12, 2025, between 12:30 PM and 2:15 PM.

The Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton announced that during the specified period, traffic will be temporarily suspended on Maršala Tita Street, during the gathering at the Memorial to the Murdered Children of Sarajevo (1992-1995), from the intersection with Radićeva Street to the intersection with Koševo Street, and during the movement of participants through Titova and Zmaja od Bosne streets. From Marijin Dvor (near Hotel Holiday) to the Secondary Mechanical Technical School, participants will move exclusively in the right traffic lane, crossing to the other side of Zmaja od Bosne Street via pedestrian crossings and continuing to Stage Park, located between the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tram traffic will be temporarily rerouted to Sarajevo Railway Station during the protest march, while vehicles from the direction of Ilidža towards Baščaršija will be diverted to alternative routes.

The protest begins at 1:00 PM with a gathering at the Memorial to the Murdered Children of Sarajevo (1992-1995), and will continue with a march to the area between the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where demands will be read to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for respect of international law, cessation of cooperation with Israel, and initiation of concrete measures to support the Palestinian people.

Organizers emphasize that the protest is peaceful and dignified and call on citizens to join and express solidarity with the Palestinian people. They welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza, stating it is the first step towards a free Palestine.

"Every ceasefire, every moment when children can breathe without fear, is a reason for hope. But a ceasefire is not freedom. Our gathering 'Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine' remains the voice of those who do not want crimes to be forgotten and injustice to be normalized. We do not look away. We do not give up. Until Palestine is free, we will continue to speak, march, and demand justice," the organizers stated.

Organizers have invited doctors, healthcare workers, journalists, and media workers to come in white coats or with PRESS identification, and citizens to bring banners and join the common voice of solidarity.

A petition with the protest demands is available online at: www.onlinepeticija.com/bosna_i_hercegovina_za_slobodnu_palestinu

A press conference regarding the protest will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
