Minister Edin Forto to be publicly heard in BiH Parliament within 15 days

(Patria) - The 24th session of the House of Representatives' Committee on Transport and Communications of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of BiH was held in Sarajevo today.

A modified initiative by MP Saša Magazinović was adopted, tasking the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) of BiH to prepare and submit amendments to the Rulebook that will abolish discrimination based on age and health status by equalizing the fees for driver's license renewals for all drivers.

According to current regulations, older drivers pay up to 3.3 times more than younger drivers for the same period, while there are also cases where drivers with reduced health capacity pay up to 5 times more than other drivers for the same period.

The Committee made a Decision on a public hearing for the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Edin Forto, with the aim, as stated, to obtain necessary information and determine the reasons for the unsatisfactory results of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH in 2023 and 2024, as well as why the Ministry has not implemented the conclusions of the House of Representatives' Committee on Transport and Communications and the House of Representatives of the PA BiH.

The public hearing of Minister Forto will be held within 15 days from the date of the Decision.

The Committee took note of the response from the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH to the conclusion from the 21st session of the Committee (issue with the time limit for BiH drivers staying in the EU).

The Report on the Work of the House of Representatives' Committee on Transport and Communications in 2024, as well as the Indicative Work Plan of the House of Representatives' Committee on Transport and Communications of the PA BiH for 2025, were adopted.
