Meeting in Mostar over Deteriorating Security Situation, Appeal to Ministry of Interior to Increase Patrols and Introduce Video Surveillance

(Patria) - A meeting was held today in the city on the Neretva between representatives of the Coordination of Citizens' Associations of Mostar and representatives of pro-Bosniak parties in the Parliament of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

The meeting was held in the Parliament of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, prompted by the deteriorating security situation and increasingly frequent attacks on citizens of Mostar.

Attendees included representatives of pro-Bosniak parties in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton: Džafer Alić (SDA), Ismet Lulić (SDP BiH), Sadina Hejub (DF), Omer Hujdur (NIP) and Nermin Vrtić (NES).

The meeting was convened due to concerns of citizens and organizations over the increasingly frequent incidents involving attacks on residents of Mostar, destruction of property, and breaches of public order and peace.

Representatives of pro-Bosniak parties expressed support for the efforts of the civil sector and emphasized the necessity of establishing better coordination mechanisms between police and judicial institutions.

It was concluded that it is necessary to request from the Ministry of Interior to urgently take all necessary measures to shed light on all unresolved cases of attacks on citizens of Mostar, and that it is important for the prosecutor's office and the court to prosecute and punish perpetrators, organizers and instigators in order to prevent violence.

Meeting participants stressed the importance of an effective investigation and swift prosecution of those responsible for these incidents in order to restore citizens' trust in institutions and ensure safety in the city.

Furthermore, an appeal was made to the Ministry to increase the presence of police patrols in key parts of the city, introduce video surveillance, and improve cooperation with the local community for a faster and more effective response to security threats.

This meeting demonstrated the unity of pro-Bosniak parties in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton when it comes to the safety of citizens and public order.
