In Mostar, protest walk 'When did the women of Mostar stay silent?'

(Patria) - Informal group of NGOs "Mostar Network" organized a protest walk in Mostar today under the slogan "When did the women of Mostar stay silent?".

The occasion for the walk was the International Women's Day, and the goal was to raise awareness about women's rights and building a more equitable society.

- Every year we organize something on the occasion of International Women's Day, and this year we decided to walk to draw attention to the poor position of workers, primarily female workers - said Ifeta Ćešir Škoro from the Initiative of Women and Men of Mostar.

The protest walk started from the Trade Union Home building, Fejićeva Street, across the Old Bridge, Liska Street, Rondo, Nikola Šubića Zrinskog Street (Šetalište) all the way to Španski trg, where a musical and poetic program was held.

The goal of the walk "When did the women of Mostar stay silent?" was to draw public attention to the increasing violence against women in BiH, discrimination against women, and the increasingly pronounced underrepresentation of women in the social, cultural, and political life of Mostar, Herzegovina, but also the entire country.

The initiator of the informal group of NGOs called "Mostar Network" is the Initiative of Women and Men of Mostar, and in addition to the Initiative, the network includes the association "Vedri osmijeh" Mostar, the association "Novi put" Mostar, OKC Abrašević, the association "Kuća otvorenog srca" Mostar, the Artistic Society "Mostarske kiše", Dance Studio Bdance, Scout Detachment "Stari grad" Mostar, Youth Council of the City of Mostar, Women's Association "Vrba" Mostar, association "Pozitiva" Mostar and Dance Studio Mo-Stars.
