Remains of two victims from the past war exhumed in Modriča

(Patria) - The remains of at least two victims of the past war were exhumed today at the City Cemetery in the municipality of Modriča.

According to information from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they are most likely victims who perished in 1992.

The complete remains of one victim and the incomplete remains of another victim were exhumed.

The remains of these victims were noticed accidentally, during permanent burials at this location.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was immediately requested to act urgently, and these remains were exhumed today.

The exhumation was led by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and participated by a forensic pathologist, an investigator from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, workers, and employees of the Modriča Police Station.

After the exhumation, the found remains were transferred to the Memorial Center in Tuzla for further forensic and criminal-technical processing, as well as for the collection of bone samples for the purpose of establishing identity through DNA analysis.

The exhumation was carried out under the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
