During Sebija Izetbegović's mandate, KCUS lost four hundred employees!

The number of employees at the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo has decreased by 421 since 2015, with a drastic outflow of staff occurring from January 2016, when Sebija Izetbegović (SDA) was appointed head of KCUS.

Instead of these data serving as an alarm, given that it is the largest hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they were used by media close to that political party for praise because the number of employees in companies under their control has decreased. When it comes to public enterprises, it is devastating to equate companies, telecom operators, power utilities, and hospitals.

Any loss of staff in hospitals directly threatens the healthcare system, especially at the tertiary level of healthcare.

Analysis by media close to SDA

For more than two years, we have been hearing warnings that the lost medical staff - professors and specialists - cannot be replaced even in a decade. These warnings are still not being taken seriously. Sarajevo Canton, where patients from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina come for treatment, is deficient in pediatricians, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and radiologists. Due to the lack of professors at KCUS, doctors are forced to go to Mostar or Tuzla for specialization.

In the last two years and eight months alone, KCUS has lost 88 doctors, of which 40 are doctors of medical sciences. Of that number, 19 have retired, while the majority left KCUS due to mobbing. A significant number continued their work abroad. Although mass hiring of doctors in Sarajevo Canton was announced, it has not happened to this day. After all, who will train the young staff and pass on their knowledge? What happens when ten or twenty doctors retire at once? Who will treat us?

For example, the University Hospital in Mostar had 1,931 employees in 2015, while at the end of August 2018, that number was 2,138.
