306 new cases of infection in the Sarajevo Canton in one day, four patients died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton, 306 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton in the past day, after laboratory testing of 1,148 samples. In the same period, 140 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. Four patients, unfortunately, died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, 147 patients are hospitalized, of which 127 have an acute infection, while the others are post-Covid or under observation/triage. The share of unvaccinated persons in the number of hospitalized is 86.39 percent.

90 patients are being treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 57 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. Ten people are on ventilators, the same number are using non-invasive ventilation, while eight patients are on oxygen support for breathing.

The Sarajevo Canton today records 1,840 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,643 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 71,880 people infected with coronavirus and 68,369 recovered have been recorded in the Sarajevo Canton.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 183, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 304," according to data from the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton, 453 patients were examined, of which seven were transported for hospital treatment.

At drive-in points and in Covid clinics, 1,842 PCR swabs were taken. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The Covid call center recorded 871 calls, and 354 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

During yesterday, a total of 1,327 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered.

The Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton calls on citizens to get vaccinated in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. Also, they thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
