360 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Sarajevo Canton, interest in vaccination grows

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton announces that in the past day, 360 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton, after 1,701 samples were laboratory tested. In the same period, 137 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. There were no deaths.

Currently, 128 patients are hospitalized, of whom 119 have an acute infection, while the others are post-Covid or under observation/triage. The share of unvaccinated persons among the hospitalized is 81.25 percent.

78 patients are being treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 50 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. 11 people are on ventilators, the same number are using non-invasive ventilation, while seven patients are on oxygen support.

Sarajevo Canton today records 2,064 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,884 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 72,240 people infected with coronavirus and 68,505 recovered have been recorded in Sarajevo Canton.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 211, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is 350," according to the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, 524 patients were examined, of whom four were transported for hospital treatment.

A total of 1,739 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and Covid clinics. Due to the large number of citizens referred for testing, a drive-in point in Novo Sarajevo has been operational since today.

Drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Novo Sarajevo and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid call center recorded 1,044 calls, and 359 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

During yesterday, a total of 1,343 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton calls on citizens to get vaccinated, in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. They also thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
