Increase in number of newly infected in Canton Sarajevo, 225 cases confirmed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Institute for Public Health of Canton Sarajevo, 225 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the past day in Canton Sarajevo, after laboratory testing of 1,276 samples. In the same period, 84 people recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Three patients, unfortunately, died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, 112 patients are undergoing hospital treatment, of which 105 have an acute infection, while the others are post-covid or under observation/triage.

The share of vaccinated persons among the hospitalized is 25.89 percent.

At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 54 patients are being treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” 58. Three people are on respirators, and 12 patients are using non-invasive ventilation. Oxygen support is used by 16 patients.

Canton Sarajevo today records 1,555 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,322 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 67,097 people infected with coronavirus have been recorded in Canton Sarajevo, and 63,971 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 115, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 191," according to the Institute for Public Health of Canton Sarajevo.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Canton Sarajevo, 370 patients were examined, of which four were transported for hospital treatment. At drive-in points and in Covid clinics, 711 PCR swabs were taken. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac work every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The Covid call center recorded 484 calls, and 267 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

During the past day, 837 vaccines were administered in Canton Sarajevo. 

The Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. This ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
