In Sarajevo Canton, five people died from consequences of Covid-19

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the past day, 158 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton, after laboratory testing of 1,344 samples, according to the Public Health Institute of SC.

In the same period, 109 people recovered from COVID infection, while five people, unfortunately, died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, 157 patients are hospitalized, of whom 142 have acute infection, while the rest are post-COVID or are in observation/triage. The proportion of vaccinated people among hospitalized patients is 20.38 percent.

89 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo, and 68 at the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. Four people are on ventilators, while 18 are using non-invasive ventilation. Nine patients are on oxygen support of breathing above 15 liters per minute.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 1,580 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,544 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 65,195 people infected with coronavirus have been registered, and 62,097 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people is 143, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 237," according to data from the Public Health Institute of SC.

291 patients were examined in the Covid-ambulatories of the Public Institution Health Center SC, of whom 12 were transported to hospital treatment. 759 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-ambulatories. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid-call center recorded 487 calls, and 214 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in Covid-ambulatories.

During the past day, a total of 492 doses of vaccines were administered in the health centers of Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Health of SC once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their health and the health of those around them.
