In Sarajevo Canton, unvaccinated make up 76.8 percent of hospitalized due to coronavirus

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, 1,374 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the past day, after 3,458 samples were laboratory tested.

The Institute emphasizes that today's number of newly infected is the result of processing samples collected in the past four days, from January 10 to 14, 2022.

In the past day, 663 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. Three patients, unfortunately, died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, 164 patients are hospitalized, of which 147 have an acute infection, while the others are post-Covid or under observation/triage.

The share of unvaccinated persons in the number of hospitalized is 76.83 percent.

At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 107 patients are being treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” 57.

Eleven people are on ventilators, seven are using non-invasive ventilation, while six patients are on oxygen support for breathing.

Sarajevo Canton today records 4,898 active cases of Covid-19 infection.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 78,670 people infected with coronavirus and 72,079 recovered have been recorded in Sarajevo Canton.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 724, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick per 100,000 inhabitants, is 1,202," according to the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, 621 patients were examined, and four were transported to hospital treatment.

At drive-in points and Covid clinics, 1,413 PCR swabs were taken.

Drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Semizovac and Novi Grad work every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The Covid call center recorded 1,295 calls, and 509 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in Covid clinics.

During the past day, a total of 786 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated, in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. Also, they thank citizens for their cooperation and invite them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
