65 New Infections in Sarajevo Canton, Four Patients Deceased

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, 65 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Canton of Sarajevo yesterday, after 766 samples were laboratory tested. In the same period, 97 people recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Unfortunately, four patients died as a consequence of this disease.

Currently, 114 patients are hospitalized, of whom 104 have acute infections, while the rest are post-Covid or are undergoing observation/triage.

The proportion of vaccinated individuals among the hospitalized is 20.18 percent. 52 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo, and 62 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”.

Seven people are on ventilators, and eight patients are using non-invasive ventilation. Nine patients are on oxygen support.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 1,508 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,231 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 67,246 people infected with coronavirus and 64,158 recovered have been registered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people is 112, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 187," according to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton.

In the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center Sarajevo Canton, 202 patients were examined, of whom three were transported to hospital treatment. A total of 491 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid-call center recorded 332 calls, and 154 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid-outpatient clinics.

During the past day, a total of 268 vaccine doses were administered in Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton once again urges citizens to get vaccinated to protect their own health and the health of those around them. This ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue respecting all prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures.
