424 new Covid-19 infections in Sarajevo Canton, 3,592 people in isolation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, 424 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Canton in the past day, after laboratory testing of 1,636 samples. In the same period, 212 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. One patient, unfortunately, died.

Currently, 128 patients are undergoing hospital treatment, of whom 115 have an acute infection, while the rest are post-Covid or under observation/triage. The share of unvaccinated persons among the hospitalized is 75.78 percent.

Eighty-one patients are being treated at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 47 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. Twelve people are on ventilators, 11 are using non-invasive ventilation, and eight patients are on oxygen support for breathing.

Sarajevo Canton today records 2,802 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 3,592 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 73,602 people infected with coronavirus and 69,122 recovered have been recorded in Sarajevo Canton.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 344, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 572," according to data from the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, 531 patients were examined, of whom three were transported for hospital treatment.

A total of 1,546 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid clinics. Drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Novi Grad and Semizovac work every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The Covid call center recorded 924 calls, and 488 conversations with patients were also conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

During yesterday, a total of 969 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton appeals to citizens to get vaccinated, in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. They also thank citizens for their cooperation and invite them to continue to comply with all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
