In Sarajevo Canton 173 new cases, two people died from Covid 19

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, 173 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton yesterday, after laboratory testing of 1,248 samples. In the same period, 163 people recovered. Unfortunately, two people died from the consequences of this infection.

Currently, 148 patients are hospitalized, of whom 139 have acute infections, while the rest are post-covid or are in observation/triage. The proportion of vaccinated people among hospitalized patients is 18.92 percent.

75 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, and 73 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. Five people are on ventilators, while 10 are on non-invasive ventilation. 12 patients are using oxygen support for breathing.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 1,538 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,569 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 64,906 people infected with coronavirus have been registered in Sarajevo Canton, and 61,857 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people is 173, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 254," according to data from the Institute of Public Health of Sarajevo Canton.

204 patients were examined in the Covid outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center Sarajevo, of whom five were transported to hospital treatment. 975 PCR swabs were taken at the drive-in points and in the Covid outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid call center recorded 498 calls, and 206 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid outpatient clinics.

During the past day, a total of 528 doses of vaccines were administered in the health centers in Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their own health and the health of those around them. This ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures.
