KS: 1,375 New Infections, Four Patients Deceased

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the KS Public Health Institute, 1,375 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton in the past day. These are the results of sample analyses, including 1,193 PCR tests and 1,431 antigen tests.

The Institute emphasizes that the samples for PCR testing were collected between January 16 and 18 this year. In the past day, 745 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. Unfortunately, four patients died as a result of this disease.

Currently, 192 patients are hospitalized, of whom 177 have acute infections, while the rest are post-Covid or are undergoing observation/triage. The proportion of unvaccinated individuals among hospitalized patients is 76.56 percent.

At the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo, 120 patients are being treated, and at the "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital, 72 are being treated. Seven people are on ventilators, 11 are using non-invasive ventilation, and nine patients are on oxygen support.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 6,455 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 82,230 people infected with coronavirus and 74,068 recovered have been registered in Sarajevo Canton.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected individuals is 820, while the weekly incidence, or the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 1,362," according to data from the KS Public Health Institute.

In the Covid-19 outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, 772 patients were examined, of whom five were transported to hospital treatment. 1,040 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-19 outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Semizovac and Novi Grad operate daily from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

The Covid-19 call center recorded 1,415 calls, and 506 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers at Covid-19 outpatient clinics.

A total of 1,250 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered during the past day.

The KS Ministry of Health once again urges citizens to get vaccinated to protect their health and the health of those around them.

They also thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue respecting all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
