135 cases of infection in Sarajevo Canton, two people died

 

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, 135 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton yesterday, after 988 samples were laboratory tested. In the same period, 139 people recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Two patients, unfortunately, died as a result of this disease. Currently, 107 patients are hospitalized, of whom 102 have acute infections, while the others are post-Covid or are in observation/triage. The proportion of unvaccinated people among hospitalized patients is 83.18 percent.

50 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, and 57 at the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. Five people are on ventilators, and 10 patients are using non-invasive ventilation. Eight patients are on oxygen support.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 1,580 active cases of Covid-19 infection. 2,158 people are currently in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 67,790 people have been infected with coronavirus, and 64,620 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people is 131, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 218," according to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton.

301 patients were examined in the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center Sarajevo, of whom 11 were transported to hospital.

596 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid call center recorded 441 calls, and 227 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in Covid-outpatient clinics.

During the past day, a total of 553 doses of vaccines were administered in the health centers in Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their health and the health of those around them. This ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygienic and epidemiological measures.
