KS: 1,124 new cases of infection, four patients died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the KS Public Health Institute, 1,124 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton yesterday. These are the results of the analysis of 2,516 samples, namely 1,417 for PCR and 1,099 for antigen testing. 

The Institute emphasizes that the samples for PCR testing were collected in the period from January 14 to 17 this year.  

Yesterday, 696 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. Unfortunately, four patients died as a consequence of this disease. 

Currently, 175 patients are hospitalized, of whom 162 have acute infections, while the rest are post-covid or are under observation/triage. The proportion of unvaccinated individuals among hospitalized patients is 76 percent. 

111 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, and 64 at the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš". Seven people are on ventilators, 11 are using non-invasive ventilation, and eight patients are on oxygen support. 

Sarajevo Canton currently records 5,830 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 80,855 infected individuals and 73,322 recovered individuals have been registered in Sarajevo Canton. 

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected individuals is 803, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 1,334," according to data from the KS Public Health Institute. 

772 patients were examined in the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, of whom eight were transported to hospital treatment. 1,109 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Semizovac and Novo Sarajevo operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00. 

The Covid-call center recorded 1,478 calls, and 610 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid-outpatient clinics. 

A total of 1,600 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered during the past day. 

The Ministry of Health of KS once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their own health and the health of those around them.
