KS: 1,106 new cases of Covid, six people died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Results of PCR and antigen testing in the past 24 hours confirmed 1,106 new cases of coronavirus infection in Sarajevo Canton. According to the Institute of Public Health of KS, in the same period, 1,096 people recovered from Covid-19 infection. 

Six patients, unfortunately, died as a consequence of this disease. 

Currently, 172 patients are hospitalized, of which 160 have acute infections. The proportion of unvaccinated people among hospitalized patients is 65.70 percent.  

106 patients are being treated at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, and 66 at the "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital. Six people are on ventilators, 12 are using non-invasive ventilation, while 10 patients are on oxygen support for breathing. 

Sarajevo Canton currently records 7,135 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 85,599 people infected with coronavirus and 76,740 recovered have been registered. 

"The weekly incidence, i.e., the number of infected people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 1,153," according to data from the Institute of Public Health of KS. 

In the Covid-19 outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, 702 patients were examined, of whom six were transported to hospital treatment. 905 swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-19 outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Semizovac and Novo Sarajevo operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00. 

The Covid-19 call center recorded 1,657 calls, and 436 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in Covid-19 outpatient clinics. 

A total of 1,079 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered during the past day. 

The Ministry of Health of KS once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their health and the health of those around them. They also thank citizens for their cooperation and invite them to continue respecting all prescribed hygienic and epidemiological measures.
