In controls of illegal trade in 2017, goods worth 106,267 BAM seized

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Market-tourism inspectors of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs conducted inspection supervisions last year that include control of trade without approval from the competent authority and control of trade in goods without credible documentation, with an emphasis on trade in excise goods (cigarettes and cut tobacco). Supervisions were carried out at all frequent locations in the Canton of Sarajevo in morning and afternoon hours, as well as on weekends.

The result of 364 conducted inspection supervisions is the seizure of goods with which a misdemeanor was committed, worth 106,267.00 BAM, and 221 misdemeanor warrants were issued in the amount of 74,000 BAM. In addition, 143 requests were submitted for initiating misdemeanor proceedings before the competent court.

With the aim of preventing illegal trade, market-tourism inspectors also organized team supervisions with other inspections of the Administration, with the assistance of officers from the Ministry of Interior of the Canton of Sarajevo. The most significant results in controlling illegal trade in cigarettes, cut tobacco, and hand-rolled cigarettes were achieved by mobile teams of the market-tourism inspection and members of the Support Unit of the Ministry of Interior of the Canton of Sarajevo. In the course of 134 inspection supervisions by mobile teams during 2017, 11,639 packs of cigarettes, 319.85 kg of cut tobacco, and 917 hand-rolled and packaged cigarettes were seized.

The mentioned quantities of seized goods were handed over to the Directorate for Commodity Reserves of the Canton of Sarajevo until the completion of misdemeanor proceedings initiated before the competent court. After the opening of the ski season on Bjelašnica, controls of trade without approval from the competent authority were also carried out at the Babin do location.

We remind that, according to the provisions of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Internal Trade of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the fine for conducting trade without approval from the competent authority and selling goods without credible documentation for natural persons ranges from 1,000 to 1,500 BAM.
