Tensions rise in Sarajevo Canton: ZNG 'at war' with SDP minister Magoda

(Patria) - The election campaign has begun, and unlike many, as always, ZNG will adhere to its principles of political correctness. However, it seems that some of our partners in government have been bothered by the fact that ZNG, in coalition with colleagues from PZP, will have excellent and serious candidates for mayors of certain municipalities, so they decided, in their own style, to show it, it was announced from the Movement For New Generations.

Regarding the media releases from the relevant Minister of Culture and Sport, Mr. Kenan Magoda, and some of his party colleagues, we want to state that Mr. Magoda, we hope accidentally, forgot to mention that through these projects, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth also supported youth programs of four sports clubs, one UNSA faculty which, along with two cultural institutions, offered projects intended for talented future young scientists, future artists (UNSA academy students), and young athletes.

Therefore, we are not sure how, in a ministry that, by its name and scope, deals with youth issues, support for these institutions for this type of project is considered "misappropriation of funds". Furthermore, it is important to note that the adoption of the budget for 2024 and the preparation of these projects began long before the adoption of the law by which the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth is expected to increase support for NUB BiH. Therefore, it was not possible to redirect these funds to the newly created obligation afterwards.

On the other hand, we are very happy when, for example, the Ministry of Transport supports the Faculty of Transport Engineering of UNSA or the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees supports the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UNSA, and we do not question at all whether former or current party colleagues or ministers of Mr. Magoda are in some of the leading positions of these institutions. On the contrary, we recognize this as an investment in higher education in KS and heartily welcome it.

It is important to note that the directors of the cultural institutions mentioned by Minister Magoda, which were supported by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth, held these positions long before the formation of ZNG, and their results during that period, and afterwards, were exceptionally notable and repeatedly awarded.

As far as we can recall, Minister Magoda has often praised their efforts, commitment, and results. On the other hand, no one should object to significant allocations for institutions such as BKC and some other theaters and cultural institutions, headed by people close not only to the party from which Minister Magoda comes but also to him personally, if they achieve excellent results.

Finally, we do not want to be malicious and say that the money allocated for "drifting" cars on the streets of Sarajevo and favoring certain business entities and their public exposure under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports would cover the needs of many significant institutions, including NUB BiH. Redirecting that money to these institutions by Minister Magoda would be, at the very least, expected, given the media PR appearances that the esteemed minister had regarding the adoption of the Law on temporary co-financing of seven cultural institutions of state importance from the cantonal budget.

Unlike Minister Magoda, we would support and publicly praise the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports for the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As confirmation of these words, we take this opportunity to praise the efforts of the Federal Minister, Professor Duraković (Mr. Magoda's party colleague), who, according to our information, is precisely looking for ways to make certain emergency funds from the federal level, which were consistently allocated to NUB BiH in previous years, available this year as well, and in this regard, has sent certain inquiries to the cantonal relevant ministry, which will be promptly answered.

However, as we said, the campaign is slowly starting, and we do not blame those who seek media space for themselves and their colleagues, but we remind that municipal elections should not affect the work of the cantonal government. If not because of partners, then certainly not because of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, whom this government is supposed to serve.

ZNG is in coalition with SDP and other parties of the Trojka in Sarajevo Canton.

Their club is the "tipping point" for the survival of the Trojka government in this canton.
