597 new coronavirus infections in Sarajevo Canton, seven people died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Results of PCR and antigen testing in the past 24 hours confirmed 597 new cases of coronavirus infection in Sarajevo Canton. 

As stated by the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton, in the same period, 734 people recovered from the Covid-19 infection. Seven people died as a result of this disease. Currently, 224 patients are undergoing hospital treatment, of which 214 have an acute infection. The share of unvaccinated persons among the hospitalized is 76.34 percent. 

At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 159 patients are being treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” 65. Eight people are on respirators, 11 are using non-invasive ventilation, while 10 patients are on oxygen support. 

Sarajevo Canton today records 6,269 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 92,550 people infected with coronavirus and 84,525 recovered have been recorded in Sarajevo Canton. 

“The average daily number of cases in the past seven days is 882,” according to the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton. 

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton, 486 patients were examined, of which nine were transported for hospital treatment. Drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and in Semizovac and Novi Grad are open every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours. 

The Covid call center recorded 1,101 calls, and 443 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics. 

In the past day, 430 people were vaccinated in the Sarajevo Canton. 

The Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated, in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. Also, they thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
