Sarajevo Canton: 500 New Coronavirus Cases and 622 Recovered from Covid-19 Infection

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the past 24 hours, 500 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton, while in the same period, 622 of our fellow citizens have recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Of this number of newly infected, 341, or 68.2 percent, belong to family clusters or contacts with previously infected persons, which is why they have been in self-isolation since before.

Unfortunately, 17 patients infected with this virus died yesterday.

1,885 people were tested for coronavirus yesterday.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 4,679 active cases of COVID-19 infection. The total number of infected is 48,166, and the total number of recovered is 42,575. Currently, 7,516 of our fellow citizens are in self-isolation.

According to data from the Public Health Institute of KS, in the past seven days, the average number of infected people was 521, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 868.

Currently, 746 people are hospitalized in KS, with 561 at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo and 185 patients at the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš".

11 patients are on ventilators, seven at UKCS and four at the General Hospital.

At the same time, 54 patients at UKCS and 24 at the General Hospital are using oxygen support for breathing.

In the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, 960 patients were examined, of whom 12 were transported to the General Hospital and 21 to UKCS.

The following number of PCR swabs were taken at the drive-in testing points: 238 at Vrbanja, 142 at Novo Sarajevo, 75 at Vogošća, and 67 at Ilidža.

The total number of PCR swabs taken at the points and Covid-outpatient clinics is 1,105.

We remind citizens that with an electronic referral, they can go to any drive-in testing point, regardless of their place of residence.

The Covid call center recorded 1,697 calls, and 597 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid-outpatient clinics.

The Ministry of Health of KS and healthcare institutions thank the citizens of Sarajevo Canton for their cooperation, with a request to continue respecting epidemiological measures.
