Canton of Sarajevo: 137 New Coronavirus Cases and Three Deaths

(Patria) - According to data from the KS Public Health Institute, 137 new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the Canton of Sarajevo in the past day, after 1,109 samples were laboratory tested.

In the same period, 142 people recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Three people died from the consequences of this disease.

Currently, there are 114 patients in hospital treatment, of whom 98 have acute infections, while the rest are post-covid or are in observation/triage.

The proportion of unvaccinated individuals among hospitalized patients is 84.21 percent.

There are 71 patients being treated at the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo, and 43 at the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš".

Eight hospitalized patients are on ventilators, 12 are using non-invasive ventilation, and five are on oxygen support.

The Canton of Sarajevo currently records 1,486 active cases of Covid-19 infection.

Currently, 2,135 people are in self-isolation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 70,600 people infected with coronavirus and 67,465 recovered have been registered in the Canton of Sarajevo.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people is 119, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 198," according to data from the KS Public Health Institute.

A total of 281 patients were examined in the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, of whom five were transported to hospital treatment.

A total of 891 PCR swabs were taken at the drive-in points and in the Covid-outpatient clinics.

The drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid call center recorded 434 calls, and 186 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid-outpatient clinics.

A total of 16,767 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered in health centers during December, while 988 doses of vaccine were given yesterday alone.

The KS Ministry of Health once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their own health and the health of those around them. They also thank citizens for their cooperation and urge them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
