Slaviša Krunić Buried in Glamočani

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - The murdered businessman Slaviša Krunić, owner of several companies including "Sektor sekjuriti", was buried at the local cemetery in Glamočani near Banja Luka. 

Thousands of people attended the final farewell. 

"We have something to hope for, and that is the kingdom of heaven. A reasonable person only needs to look up and see all these people to know what kind of man we are saying goodbye to. He indebted many people, he was part of the church, and that is why we have all gathered today," said priest Miodrag, thanking on behalf of the family everyone who came.

A large number of people from public and political life attended the funeral.

Krunić was killed in an ambush on Monday evening in front of the gate of his estate, in a vehicle in which he was with his driver and companion. Several attackers, one of whom was killed in an exchange of fire, two were arrested while a fourth is on the run, opened fire on Krunić's SUV from two rifles that were found today. The motives for the attack on Krunić are unknown, although the RS Police stated that they have indications of what the motive might be. Krunić is survived by four children.

The opposition in the Republic of Srpska, as well as independent intellectuals and journalists, believe that Krunić was killed by the politics led by Milorad Dodik and the SNSD. Krunić himself had previously warned about pressure from people in Milorad Dodik's closest circle.

In his cable to the State Department, published by WikiLeaks, then US Ambassador to BiH Charles English stated that Krunić informed the US Embassy about the nature of his relationship with Dodik. "We have heard allegations that Dodik is putting pressure on opponents in the private sector. Slaviša Krunić, owner of the successful company Sektor Sekjuriti based in the Republic of Srpska, informed us on July 16 that Dodik's bodyguard Miloš Čubrilović and his godfather Velibor Šotra are pressuring him to sell his company to their security firm Alfa.“
