(Patria) - In the Federation of BiH, the Law on Smoking Ban begins to apply today, meaning the ban on smoking in enclosed spaces comes into effect.

The new Law on Control and Limited Use of Tobacco, Tobacco and Other Smoking Products in the FBiH introduces strict measures aimed at protecting public health.

The law introduces a ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces, workplaces, and public transport, and prescribes a ban on the sale of tobacco products to minors, as well as their advertising, promotion, and sponsorship.

Key provisions

One of the most important measures includes mandatory warnings on tobacco product packaging about the harmful effects of smoking.

Also, the law covers electronic cigarettes and herbal smoking products, with defined conditions for special smoking areas in catering facilities and other institutions.

Penalties

For those who violate the provisions of the law, the following penalties are foreseen:

● Legal entities may be fined between 2,000 KM and 15,000 KM;

● Responsible persons in legal entities face fines from 500 KM to 3,000 KM;

● Individuals who violate the law may be fined from 100 KM to 1,000 KM.

Supervision and implementation

Supervision over the implementation of the law will be carried out by the competent inspection services, and legal entities and citizens are expected to adapt to the new measures.

The goal is to reduce the harmful effects of smoking and align with international standards in this area.
