Floods in FBiH reduced wheat yield by 32.4% compared to last year

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014, 52,951 tons of wheat were produced, which is 32.4% less compared to the production in 2013, on an area of 16,935 hectares, announced the Federal Statistics Office, reports Patria News Agency.

Such data are a direct consequence of the floods that affected a larger part of the sown areas in May, which experts and farmers had warned about.

Due to bad weather conditions, a decline was recorded in other early grains as well, barley by 23.7% less, and oats and rye by 19% less.

The situation is no better with the production of early fruits, so this year the production of cherries was 23.5% lower, sour cherries by 12.5%, and apricots by 33.3% compared to last year.
