Measles epidemic continues to rage in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Since February, a measles epidemic has been raging in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as emphasized by the Institute for Public Health of the FBiH, the epidemic is still ongoing, reports the Patria news agency.

- As of July 31, 2,204 cases of measles have been registered, mostly among unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated individuals. The largest share consists of patients aged 15-19, with a shift in the age range towards younger and older age groups – the Institute states.

Citizens often ask questions about measles, and one of the most common is how measles can be prevented?

 - Measles can be prevented by vaccinating all persons who have not had measles, i.e., have not received two doses of the measles vaccine. It is especially important that children receive two doses of MMR before starting school (they should be caught up by age 14) – the Institute stated.
