1,131,242 COVID-19 vaccines administered in FBiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of the Federation of BiH today in Sarajevo, at its 300th regular session, adopted information on the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as of January 24, 2022, and the orders and recommendations of the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health, which were adopted for a period of 14 days starting from January 27, 2022, as the date of their application.

Governments of cantons and crisis staffs of cantonal ministries of health have been ordered, in accordance with the epidemiological situation in the canton or municipality, to introduce more restrictive measures, and to regularly report on them to the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health. Cantonal governments have been recommended to, in accordance with the epidemiological situation in the canton, risk assessment, as well as the document "Public Health Criteria for the Adaptation of Public Health and Social Measures in the Context of COVID-19", introduce the Vaccinated/Recovered/Tested (VPT) Rule for the canton and report on it to the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health.

The Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health is tasked with monitoring the epidemiological situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the introduction and implementation of the Vaccinated/Recovered/Tested (VPT) Rule for the canton, and if it assesses the need to propose unified measures for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the VPT Rule, it will report to the Government of the FBiH for decision-making.

Before the expiry of the deadline, this staff is tasked with reviewing the complete epidemiological situation and making a risk assessment, in order to consider the possibility and necessity of amending the orders and recommendations, and submitting new proposals to the Government. The Crisis Staff will submit today's conclusions, with attachments, to the cantonal ministries of health and their crisis staffs, cantonal health institutions, clinical centers in FBiH, general, cantonal and special hospitals, as well as the Federal and cantonal inspectorate administrations and cantonal police administrations.

In accordance with the conclusion from January 8, 2021, the Government will inform the Parliament of FBiH about the epidemiological situation and the measures it has adopted today to protect the health of citizens and reduce the risk of virus spread.

The information presented today by the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health stated, among other things, that in the third week of 2022, an increase in all indicators was recorded, most notably the number of deaths and total hospitalized patients with COVID-19. At the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina level, the seven-day incidence is 500.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and in the last seven days, a higher than average incidence was recorded in Herzegovina-Neretva, West Herzegovina, and Sarajevo Cantons.

According to the latest data, 1,131,242 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in FBiH so far, of which 545,127 (30.27 percent) were the first dose, 510,429 (28.35 percent) were the second dose, and 75,686 (4.2 percent) were the third dose.
