In FBiH, 21,500 people receive a pension of less than 50 KM!

One of the most vulnerable categories of society in Bosnia and Herzegovina are certainly pensioners, especially those who have not yet realized their rights to pensions in foreign countries where they spent most of their working lives, and in our country they have realized the right to amounts that are less than 50 KM, writes the news agency Patria.

As pointed out by Amel Lizde, head of the Public Relations Office of the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute, about 21,500 pensioners receive a pension of less than 50 KM.

- These are cases that mostly receive proportional pensions, and these are domestic pensioners who, in addition to our pension, receive a pension from abroad, or pensioners who live abroad, so in addition to our pensions, they also receive foreign pensions or some other income - says Lizde.

However, among this number there are also those who are still waiting for pensions from abroad, which is the example of a Sarajevo resident who worked for years in Serbia and is waiting for their pension, and for a year now has been receiving only 12 KM pension in BiH.

- I hope I will be able to solve the problem quickly, because I cannot live on 12 KM, but I hope to realize my rights in Serbia and then start living normally - says this Sarajevo resident.

Otherwise, as Lizde explained, the highest pension paid by the FZ MIO/PIO amounts to 2,174.48 KM, and the average pension paid by the FZ MIO/PIO is 366.51 KM.

- The right to a minimum pension is exclusively held by domestic pensioners who receive pensions only from the FZ MIO PIO. Therefore, it is possible that someone living in our area, according to the decision, has a lower amount of the minimum pension, which currently amounts to 326.17 KM, still receives the minimum pension. This rule applies only to domestic pensioners who receive exclusively our pension - added Lizde.
