Awards presented at the BiH Armed Forces Hall for successful results in the past year

(Patria) - On the occasion of marking December 1st - the Day of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a reception for members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH was held at the Sarajevo Hall of the AF BiH on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

In the presence of the heads of all organizational units of the MoD BiH and generals of the AF BiH, the Minister of Defence of BiH, Zukan Helez, and the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević, presented awards to members of the AF BiH and officials of the MoD BiH for successful results in the past year.

In his address, Minister Helez noted that the AF BiH have come a long and difficult way to become today a pillar of the sovereignty of our state, as well as a pillar of stability and security for all peoples and citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a reliable partner of the NATO alliance.

„It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ceremonial reception and award ceremony of incentive prizes for members of the AF BiH on the occasion of December 1st - the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH. The defence reform of our country is the most successful post-war reform and can serve as an example of reform and functioning for all other institutions in BiH.

The numerous commendations and awards that members of the Armed Forces of BiH receive around the world, participating in international missions and peace support operations, speak of the professionalism of our Armed Forces and the high level of responsibility. The monetary awards and commendations that I have repeatedly presented here at the Hall of the Armed Forces of BiH to deserving individuals of the AF BiH are more of a symbolic act of gratitude for the fact that the AF BiH have represented their entire country in the best possible way, which we can all be proud of. Human resources are precisely the best potential of the Armed Forces of BiH.

I am convinced that we are on the right track and that every coming year the Armed Forces of BiH will strengthen and progress even more“, said Helez.

The Minister added that he will continue to advocate for the further strengthening of the status and position of the Armed Forces of BiH in society, but also for the improvement of the material status and living and working conditions of all members of the AF BiH.

In his address, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, General Knežević, emphasized that the Day of the AF BiH is an opportunity to sum up the results of the current year. The General referred to the recruitment of military personnel as well as the education of members of the AF BiH, their engagement during 2024, and assistance to the civilian population. Also, the General pointed out that he is proud that members of the AF BiH were at the disposal of the endangered population in our country during the time of fires and catastrophic floods.
