Wet roads in parts of Bosnia, landslides possible over mountain passes

(Patria) - Due to rain affecting certain regions, especially in the far northwest, northeast and central parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, drivers are advised to exercise extra caution.

In higher mountainous areas and over passes, landslides and rockslides onto the roadway are possible, as well as low cloud cover that may reduce visibility. On open stretches, side gusts of wind are possible, particularly in Herzegovina. Due to the aforementioned weather conditions, we recommend avoiding sudden braking and increasing the distance between vehicles. Pedestrians and cyclists are also urged to exercise extra caution, especially in urban zones where the road surface is wet. We ask all traffic participants for patience and compliance with traffic regulations.

Roadworks are ongoing on the Podlugovi-Sarajevo North motorway section, as well as on the main roads: Zenica-Žepče (Topčić Polje), Ustikolina-Goražde (Mravinjac), Sarajevo-Pale, Vrhpolje-Ključ and Jablanica-Prozor.

We remind you that on the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is permitted for all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes total weight.

At the Izačić and Zupci border crossings, there is increased vehicle traffic exiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. At other border crossings, traffic frequency occasionally increases, but passenger vehicles, for now, do not wait longer than 30 minutes to cross the border. The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

We note that waiting times at border crossings are subject to frequent changes. Drivers have access to video surveillance cameras on our website bihamk.ba.

Traffic is prohibited for vehicles over 5 tonnes maximum permissible weight at the Karakaj border crossing (near Zvornik). Freight vehicles over 5 tonnes are redirected to the Bratunac or Rača border crossings, while buses may use the Šepak border crossing. Freight vehicles may travel via the Šepak border crossing from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 22:00 to 06:00 (on weekends they may cross during the 22:00 to 06:00 period).
