The Mayor of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anto Domić, recently cancelled the outdoor New Year's Eve celebration. He considered the outdoor celebration risky due to the terrorist attacks currently occurring worldwide, writes the Patria news agency.
Ten days later, Serbs in Brčko will celebrate the Orthodox New Year in the city center, with a spectacular fireworks display and musical groups.
The local portal InfoBrčko writes that the move by local authorities to ban the public celebration of New Year's Eve while simultaneously supporting the Orthodox New Year has sparked anger among Brčko's Bosniaks and Croats.
If terrorists were a danger to Brčko ten days ago, how is it that this threat has been eliminated in less than two weeks, writes this portal.
