Rich programme at BKC on the occasion of BiH Statehood Day, free admission

(Patria) - A ceremonial programme has been organised at the Bosnian Cultural Centre of the Sarajevo Canton on the occasion of 25 November, with free admission.

The programme is organised by the Public Institution "Bosnian Cultural Centre of the Sarajevo Canton" under the patronage of the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, in cooperation with the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo, and the audience will have the opportunity to attend diverse and interesting cultural content prepared by the organisers.

The event begins on Tuesday, 25 November, at 5:30 PM, in the BKC gallery, where award-winning photographer Dženad Džino will present his photographic works at his first solo exhibition in Sarajevo. The exhibition is titled "Beauties of Bosnia and Herzegovina", and the motifs shown in the photographs are mostly old medieval towns, architecture and natural beauties of our country.

Dženad Džino, a professional photographer from Jablanica and an active mountaineer, has become recognisable in Bosnian-Herzegovinian society, as well as in the region, for his extraordinary photographs from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, through which he best conveys experiences from mountain tours and all the beauty of our country in an unprecedented way. His photographic journey was noticed from the very beginning by the media, as well as by people who understand photography. This is evidenced by the numerous awards he has received for his works, and the world-renowned National Geographic magazine purchased the copyright for his photograph of Château de Chalon on Lake Léman in Switzerland, which was published in National Geographic magazine for the Spanish market. Among others, the photograph "Hajdučka vrata u svitanje" (Hajdučka Vrata at Dawn) has been awarded multiple times and was the photograph of the year in 2018 at a competition in BiH. Also, the photograph "Prenj u ogledalu" (Prenj in the Mirror) has won awards at several competitions, and at the photo competition "Photograph of the Year in BiH 2017" it took first place.

The exhibition will be on display in the BKC Gallery until 30 November.

On the same day, 25 November at 6:30 PM, a concert by young musicians produced by the Pop Rock School Sarajevo will be held in the BKC gallery. Vocal soloists and instrumentalists, young talents of Sarajevo, will present themselves with a repertoire of hits from the famous musical pop-rock past of Sarajevo and BiH. Through new generations of musicians, the school strives to create new musical hopes of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian pop rock music scene and preserve the spirit of Sarajevo's pop rock culture.

The concert is intended for children, young people and parents.

The central part of the ceremonial programme will be held in the Great Hall of the BKC on 25 November at 9:00 PM, and as part of a special screening on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the documentary film "Bosnian Knight", directed by Tarik Hodžić and produced by Adnan Ćuhara, will be shown. The film had its premiere at this year's Sarajevo Film Festival, and due to the incredibly high interest from viewers, a total of seven screenings of this documentary film were held during the Festival. And for all those who missed the film, this will be an ideal opportunity to catch up.

"Bosnian Knight" is the story of Sead Delić, a man who in a touching way managed to heal the war traumas caused during the war in Bosnia from 1992-1995. In those war horrors, with great personal drama and numerous losses of loved ones, he also survives the Srebrenica Genocide of 1995. After the war, he leaves the devastated country for America and fulfills his childhood dream, becoming a truck driver. But the immediate past does not leave him in peace, and his thoughts return to his homeland Bosnia and questions about the causes of the war. Searching for answers about origin and identity, he begins to study the history of Bosnia and literally falls in love with the period of the medieval Bosnian Kingdom. He learns incredible facts about the rulers and events of that time and realises what a buried treasure it is. With each return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, he begins to visit medieval towers and towns, stećak necropolises. The affirmation of the history of Bosnia becomes his obsession, giving his life a completely different meaning. He organises teams that go with him and takes fantastic photographs at authentic locations in which he is actually a medieval Bosnian knight, thus inspiring and attracting many famous people from different spheres of life.

As part of the ceremonial programme marking the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a children's theatre play "Bear and Mouse for a Clean Environment" will also be performed on Wednesday, 26 November at 12 PM in the Great Hall of the BKC.

The play combines the promotion of environmental protection and the promotion of the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language in a new and innovative way, through music and theatre. It is intended for preschool and early school-age children, combining costumed characters, animated segments and original orchestrated music performed by the symphony orchestra from Ljubljana, ensuring a high artistic standard. The music for the play is credited to Admir Đulančić and Zlatan Fazlić, arrangements by Ranko Rihtman, and the script by Rusmir Agačević.

The play "Bear and Mouse for a Clean Environment" talks about everyday ecological problems, cleanliness, health, a healthy lifestyle, growing up and friendship, healthy food, love for family, respect for the community in which one lives, preserving customs and traditions, the need for daily learning and hard work.

Creating a dynamic and fun experience through which children, during the 40 minutes the play lasts, learn about the importance of clean water, forests and shared care for the planet.

As part of the ceremonial programme marking the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Monday, 24 November at 1 PM in the BKC Gallery, a ceremonial awarding of certificates of appreciation for the best art, literary and video works by primary and secondary school students in the Sarajevo Canton on the theme "We are your wings, homeland. Take them and fly!" will also be held.
