Meeting of the Operational Group for Coordinating the Migrant Crisis in Bihać

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton Mustafa Ružnić has called a meeting of the Operational Group for coordinating activities and monitoring the migrant crisis in the area of Una-Sana Canton for today in Bihać. The meeting starts at 10:00 AM in the building of the Cantonal Government.

Although most migrants have moved to camps in Sarajevo, a significant number of migrants still remain in Una-Sana Canton. This canton suffered the most damage during the summer and was the most burdened by the migrant crisis.

Ruined and abandoned halls once used by SFOR after the war, located at the entrance to Velika Kladuša, are now a new home for about fifty migrants. There are no wolves, but migrants still stay in the abandoned halls.

From the Red Cross, they say that in the area from Bihać to Velika Kladuša there are 70 migrants who use their help, i.e., whom volunteers visit daily. Incidentally, the City Council of the City of Bihać gave consent in November last year for the Lipa location as the only one owned by the City of Bihać for establishing a temporary reception center for migrants. The settlement should contain 1,106 containers.

The Lipa camp is located between Bosanski Petrovac and Bihać. This location could be accepted by the European Commission given that it is owned by the city and is far from populated areas. The Republic of Croatia could potentially pose a problem given that this village is located near the border with that country.
