Field exercise of protection and rescue services in case of floods begins in Bihać

(Patria) - The field exercise "NICS Bihać 2024" began today in Bihać, aiming to test the capabilities of protection and rescue services to act together in rescue missions in case of floods.



During the exercise, the NICS system - Next Generation Incident Command System - an advanced system for communication and coordination of rescue operations, developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory, is being used. It is being implemented in BiH with the support of the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) program.

The system helps various protection and rescue services in BiH to unite and more effectively combat natural and other disasters, which includes saving lives and property of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.



In addition to training local protection and rescue services in the use of the NICS system, a field exercise will be held tomorrow, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH, the Civil Protection Administration of Republika Srpska, the Federal Civil Protection Administration of FBiH, the Public Security Department of Brčko District, the Civil Protection of USK, and the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Interior of Croatia.
