Animal feed prices in BiH rise by 20 percent, will other food items follow?

The price of animal feed on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased by about 20 percent. This was confirmed for the Patria news agency by animal feed importers, who still cannot say whether higher animal feed prices will affect the price of food for people in BiH.

Nedžad Salkanović from the company Nesal from Živinice, which imports animal feed, told Patria that this year's corn harvest is about 40 percent smaller due to high temperatures, but that the wheat yield has also decreased, which has affected the increase in animal feed prices. The largest part of animal feed is imported by BiH from Serbia and Hungary, while a smaller part is grown on its own farms.

Salkanović says that flour in BiH should not become more expensive, because millers have sufficient wheat reserves, but he does not know what will happen further with other food items that depend on the price of animal feed, NAP writes.
