7,000 tons of humanitarian aid imported into BiH

The Management Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH today adopted an instruction on submitting VAT returns for the month of May for taxpayers from areas affected by catastrophic floods in BiH. The main goal of this instruction is to help entrepreneurs who suffered direct damage in the floods, so for taxpayers who are unable to do it themselves, the ITA will submit a VAT return with a value of "zero" within the legal deadline of June 10, 2014, reports Patria.

Taxpayers for whom the ITA submits a VAT return for the month of May are obliged to submit an amended VAT return for May together with the June return by July 10, 2014. In accordance with this instruction, taxpayers will need to have proof that they have suffered damage, which are the records submitted to the competent municipal commission for the assessment and inventory of damages.

Also, the Management Board of the ITA unanimously concluded that it is not necessary to adopt new sub-legal acts that would further specify the import of humanitarian aid, as it is clearly stipulated by law and previous decisions of the Management Board and the Council of Ministers of BiH what documentation is necessary to be submitted for humanitarian goods to be exempt from all duties, with basic and necessary controls at the borders.

The Management Board of the ITA was informed at today's session that approximately 7,000 tons of humanitarian goods have been imported into BiH so far as aid for areas affected by floods, and that controls had to exist to prevent possible malversations. The Management Board tasked the ITA to prepare data on who the final beneficiaries of humanitarian aid are, as it had to be indicated who it was delivered to during import, and according to the conclusion of the Council of Ministers, the ITA is obliged to submit a report on activities related to the import of humanitarian goods, according to the statement of the ITA of BiH, according to the statement of the ITA of BiH.
