BiH has 9,154 suspicious micro-locations with more than 120,000 mines

On Wednesday, March 30 at 1:00 PM, a meeting of the Donor Committee for Mine Action will be held at the United Nations building in Sarajevo to review the results achieved so far, as well as to plan future activities, announced by UNDP, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The Donor Committee meeting is organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, BHMAC, and the Demining Commission, and will be attended by ambassadors of countries involved in mine action.

Bosnia and Herzegovina still has 9,154 suspicious micro-locations where, according to estimates, more than 120,000 mines are located. This is why the Mine Action Strategy is important, the progress of which will be reviewed at the Donor Committee.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs already provided funds of 100,000 KM last year as the contribution of the BiH Institutions budget to the implementation of mine action in 2016. It is expected that by the end of 2016, 20 km² of mine-suspected area will be cleared, the statement reads.
