Ceremonial academy 'Ramadan in My City' held in Banja Luka

(Patria) - A ceremonial academy "Ramadan in My City" was held tonight at the Banski Dvor in Banja Luka on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.

This is a traditional programme organised by the Banja Luka Muftiship, which recalls the living of universal values, as one of the missions of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The programme also highlights the importance of Ramadan in the lives of Muslims, but also in the broader social and cultural context.

- Muslims from this area send a message about life in their faith, their city and their homeland, with respect for all others around them.

I expect that listeners will be able to recognise such a message and adopt it as a value during and after Ramadan - was the message of the Mufti of Banja Luka, Ismail-ef. Smajlović.

He noted that the messages of all God's prophets since the beginning of the world have been related to the prohibition of sins such as injustice, theft or violence, as well as encouraging the spread of good.

- The Honourable Prophet, whom Muslims remember and whose practice they follow, says that a believer is not complete if others are not safe from his hands. Both people and animals.

Man has the right to use everything in this world. He has the right to manage it, but he must not be violent towards the created world - said Mufti Smajlović.

The programme was attended by a large number of visitors and representatives of religious, social and political life.

Among them was the Vice President of Republika Srpska, Ćamil Duraković, who stated that, despite the challenges of today, the presence of a large number of visitors at such programmes "gives hope for a better tomorrow".

- In the time we live in, the hardest thing is to remain what we were created for: to be a person of noble behaviour, beautiful deeds and sincere intentions.

Ramadan is a unique opportunity to achieve our purpose in this world and deserve God's help in all the work we do through dedicated worship and sincere prayers - said Duraković.

He also reminded that the promotion of positive values is the obligation of all people, especially those who have taken on important social functions.

- Those of us who hold responsible roles are obliged to actively work on improving the lives of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although many challenges slow us down, it is important to recognise openness for cooperation, fellowship and mutual support - emphasised Duraković.

The ceremonial part of the academy featured performances by Armin Muzaferija, Mustafa Širbić, the choir of imams of the Banja Luka Muftiship and the choir of the Madrasa "Reis Ibrahim-ef. Maglajlić".
