Election silence begins at 7 AM, possible postponement of elections in local communities affected by natural disaster

(Patria) - In Bosnia and Herzegovina, election silence came into effect at 7 AM this morning ahead of the local elections.

Until polling stations close on Sunday at 7:00 PM, it is forbidden to publish public opinion poll results related to voting and elections.

Political entities are prohibited from participating in public political activities, and media reporting on political and election campaigns is also banned.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to decide today on postponing the elections scheduled for tomorrow due to catastrophic floods that have hit Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Irena Hadžiabdić, President of the CEC, said at yesterday's press conference that if it is not possible to hold the elections, they will be postponed and, as a rule, held within seven days, and no later than 30 days from the day set for voting in the regular elections.

The Central Election Commission of BiH will also address the Council of Ministers of BiH, entity and cantonal governments, and all competent civil protection administrations to urgently inform the CEC of all decisions they make regarding the flood and landslide situation, and to provide the Central Election Commission of BiH with all other information at their disposal that is relevant for the organization of the elections.
